NEWS ARTICLE: It Pays to be Beautiful

When Gloria and Eric ____ (last names removed) of ____ take their 14 and a half-month-old son Steele ____ out to public places such as restaurants and stores, people often comment on how adorable Steele is. "He usually just steals the show," siad Gloria.

But when Gloria entered Steele in Quest Worldwide Productions 1999 on-line baby pageant, she had no idea what kind of chances her son had to win. Entering Steele involved sending in about four photographs and paying an entry fee to Quest Worldwide Productions, a modeling agency (model and talent event production company) out of Virginia.

First, Steele was chosen as "Baby Star of the Midwest" in February 1999. The winners in each of the different categories are posted on the website on the second of each month.

"I checked the website on February second, and there he was," said Gloria. "I was really surprised and happy when he won in February, my husband was surprised too."

From there, Steele was chosen in May as "America's Pampered Prince & Princess National Photo Search 1999." Steele has received a congratulatory letter from the owner, a $500 U.S. Savings Bond, a trophy, and a banner.

Steel will also appear in national brochures and advertisements for America's Pampered Prince and Princess and Book-a-Baby during the coming year, and is available for assignments within the fashion and modeling industries. This award could be the start of a promising modeling career for Steele, though his parents are just excited that he won.

"It was just kind of fun to enter Steele," said Gloria. "We are really happy; it turned out wonderful."

Gloria said it makes her feel good to have her son be awarded. Also, she likes that this pageant is not judged by on-line voters like some baby contests are, so she knows her son did not win just by her friends going on-line and voting.
